Ink sketch of The Riddler by RougeDK Ink sketch of The Riddler by RougeDK
Had some insomnia last night so I doodled this until I got tired. It was mostly drawn with ink & brush; I think I only used pencil for the outline because if I was going to mess up, I'd rip it up anyway.

Riddler's a tricky character. I prefer the Frank Gorshin/John Glover versions but I've hated the green leotards & ballet slippers since I was a kid. Suit looks better on him IMO sans so many question marks.
That's just my opinion really...
In any regard, I hope you like it and thanks for taking the time.

I really like this style on him. :) I do fancy that vest - I remember Gorshin wore a vest in the 60's Batman movie. A rare occasion, but so worthwhile. Great work! :+fav:

Great sketch. I'm a big fan of the suit as well -- and of Frank Gorshin, of course. No contradiction there, either; it was Gorshin who came up with the idea of the suit (he found the spandex uncomfortable) and wore it in some of his TV appearances.

I didn't know that. You learn something new everday it seems...

Well I guess we have Mr. Gorshin to thank for that stroke of genius. The tights outright suck. :D Thanks for the comp and trivia.

Thank you. I just fine it hard to take a villian like Nygma seriously if he's wearing green longjohns.

Suit on him is much more palatable. Thanks for viewing. ;)

I also think the suit looks better than the spandex. I Frank Gorshin was cool as the Riddler. However, I think the John Glover version is probably the truest one. :batman:

Yes, I agree. I just couldn't imagine, as a child, that anyone as cerebral & pompous as The Riddler should be taken seriously wearing green spandex and that's coming from someone who embraces the Silver/Bronze age stuff.
I LOVED Glover's rendition of the character but you can count on one hand how many eps he appeared in during the BTAS run. I came to the conclusion that he wasn't one of Bruce Timm's favorite villians to begin with. Joker oversaturated the series but hey, it's Mark Hamill :D.

Bad ass, good brush work- he's got that egotistical brainy look on his face, too- hahaha!

Yeah, thank you. I tried to convey the right expression for Riddler which is that intellectual smirk usually on his face.

I think I channelled a little of the late, great Jim Aparo while swabbing this...

Thank you. I'm sure you could outdo this...I just got lucky is all. Brush drawing is hardly mistake-free and I envy pro inkers who can do that effortlessly.
Just keep at it and don't give up. :)
